In accordance with the provisions of Section 22, Chapter 166 of the General Laws, a public hearing will be held on October 4, 2018 @ 7:05 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 212 Main Street, Northampton, on the petition of National Grid/Verizon New England to erect poles and wires upon, along, under or across one or more public ways - North Main Street, Leeds (Pole Petition #22127922).

Execution of Order of Taking for Garfield Avenue Extension

History: The City Council held a public hearing and acted to lay out and accept Garfield Avenue Extension in March and April of 2018. On May 17, 2018, the City Council approved 18.095 An Order of Garfield Avenue Taking, but no document was executed for recording at the registry. 

Process note: Attorney Seewald has submitted an Order of Taking for execution by the City Council and recording at the registry.  The City Council is asked to vote to execute the order and then to sign it.

18.171 An Order Authorizing Acquisition of Easements for Avis Circle - 1st reading

History:
The City Council voted on August 19, 1999 to layout and accept Avis Circle as a public way but never authorized the taking of easements for this purpose. This oversight was discovered in the course of a title search and brought to the attention of the city solicitor. This action will complete the street acceptance process by authorizing the city to acquire property rights within the layout of Avis Circle.
