Resolution Denouncing Anti-Asian, Anti-Asian-American and Xenophobic Discrimination
On May 7, 2020, the Northampton City Council passed a resolution denouncing anti-Asian, anti-Asian-American and Xenophobic discrimination.
Sanctuary City Resolution
On November 30, 2016, the Human Rights Commission approved a resolution supporting Northampton's re-commitment to its Sanctuary City status and the values of a Democratic nation. In 2014, Mayor David J. Narkewicz adopted an Executive Order declaring Northampton a Sanctuary City.
Gender Identity & Expression Resolution
On August 18, 2011, the Northampton City Council unanimously passed a Resolution sponsored by the Human Rights Commission in support of the Massachusetts House Bill adding gender identity and expression to the Commonwealth’s list of hate crimes and to non-discrimination laws in employment, housing, education, public accommodations, and credit.
